Phil Griffin, Senior Pastor
Phil was born in Dublin, Georgia but spent most of his early years in Chattanooga, TN where he graduated from Hixson High School and The University of Tennessee Chattanooga with a B.S. in Pre-Law. From there he attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he received a Masters of Divinity Degree in Pastoral Ministries and his Doctrinal Degree in Evangelistic Church Growth.
Phil and his Wife Tracy have three beautiful daughters Bethany, Payton and Faith who will always be their pride and joy. Phil enjoys golf, running, reading and chasing his wife and three daughters through the local mall. His favorite food is anything chocolate and as everyone knows, his least favorite food is vegetables.
Phil’s most loved book of the Bible is Philippians for the encouragement it speaks of in standing firm in the face of persecution and the message of unity it offers. Psalm 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path" will always remain a guide to his life and ministry. You can learn more about the passion Phil has for the Lord and Grace Point here.
Matt Davies, Associate Pastor of Education/Administration
Matt is a graduate of Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Education from Bryan College in Dayton, TN. Matt ministers at Grace Point along side his wife Yaunette and children Elleise, Steele, and Grey.
Interesting facts about Matt; he enjoys gardening, bouldering "a form of rock climbing where you scale large boulders requiring strength, balance and problem solving", ultra trail running, soccer, reading and spending time with his family and the people he loves.
Matt loves the fact that our Lord and Savior is God who, during our brief stay here on earth, we will never fathom, he is "I Am". "I love that He is bigger and better, He is inconceivable , that He is a mighty mountain and a fortress that will never be conquered, yet He is right here with me." Matt loves a challenge and welcomes the unexpected, he states "it is when we must go beyond ourselves, when we realize that we can’t get there from here that we come to the reality that we need a Savior."
Mickey Clark, Associate Pastor of Student Ministry mclark@grace-point.com
After graduating from Mt. Juliet High School (Middle TN), Mickey moved on to Union University where he earned a B.A. in Religion/Church Ministry (Youth). He then received his M.A. in Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. Mickey married his wife Amy in 1997. They now have three children, Easton, Braydon, and Addison.
Mickey’s life changed forever six days before turning thirteen, when his father committed suicide. Over the few years following his father’s death he looked for comfort in many areas. Thankfully to an awesome mom, Nancy, a great step-father, Randy, and a cool youth minister, Nicky, Mickey accepted Christ at age sixteen. Within a year of accepting Christ, Mickey knew immediately God was calling him to work with teenagers because of his life experiences. It has now been 15 years and Mickey is still passionate about his calling to work with students. He says, "I have the great privilege to love students everyday. My prayer is that God will use me to change students’ lives, as much as He has used students to change mine."
Favorite things to do: date nights with Amy Lou, play with his kids, golf, being involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Tennessee Volunteer football
Life Verse: Proverbs 16:3 "Commit your works to the Lord, and your plans will be established."
Lee Lannom, Worship Leader
Lee graduated from Gallatin High School in Gallatin, TN and then went on to earn a B.S. in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering from Tennessee Technological University.
He and his wife Julie have two sons, Camron and Cason, and a daughter, Liz. Aside from spending time with his family, Lee enjoys electronic gadgets, audio/video production, playing music, sports (playing that is), radio controlled airplanes, and wrestling with his kids. What you don't know about Lee is that he is an engineer/video producer disguised as a worship leader.
Here is how Lee describes his favorite attributes of God: "At certain times in my life, there are different attributes of God that I appreciate more than others. When I need to learn patience, God teaches me patience, most of the time, the hard way. When a forgiving heart is critical, God gives me the ultimate example of forgiveness through the cross. It's amazing how God always knows my needs and meets them. Though I may not always know His specific plan for my life, I do know that 'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me'. God has given me a passion to succeed and never quit. I pray that this passion, grounded by His power, grace, and mercy, will allow me to one day stand before His throne and say ‘I have fought the good fight and I have finished the race.’".
Charlene Williams, Office Administrator
Charlene and her husband David are the proud parents of three grown children and eight grand children. Charlene is a Home School graduate who then received business training from Cleveland State. Charlene really likes Italian food and when she gets the chance she really enjoys sitting down with a good book.
Charlene prayed to receive Christ at the young age of 6 and developed a strong attachment to Acts 4:20 which says "Grant unto thy servant, that with all boldness, I will speak thy word". Charlene states "this verse was very important when God called David and me into lay evangelism."
